Neva Joyce Keck

Neva Joyce Keck (Blackmon / Sowell), age 90, Of Missouri City, TX, passed away on March 17, 2022. She was born in Prairieville, TX on June 15, 1931 to William Thomas and Lille Vera Blackmon. She was the oldest of 5 children. Throughout her youth, she was faithful to serve her family well. While other members of the family worked the fields, she stayed behind and cared for the home and her younger sister. She married James Earl Sowell, and had (3) daughters. Neva was a great cook, even if the selection was quite limited. Her pork chops with homemade cream gravy were a favorite as was her Vegetable beef Stew. Her childlike innocence and simple ways made her an instant friend and favorite of people of all ages. The love she expressed to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was pure and deep. She was unique in spirit, unlike all others. When you met her and got to know her you created a new space in your heart for her. Neva is survived by her daughters, Joyce Womack and Husband, Neil, Cathy Mendoza, Debra Baker and husband Thomas Lynn; Grandchildren, Jennifer Kyham, Michelle Rooker, Amanda Mounts and husband Kenny; Her great grandchildren Kiaya, Kiran, Jonaven, Evan, Emma, Emelia, Brianna, Trey and Seth; and various nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, 4 silblings and her husband, James.
