Melanie Mia Duarte, age 3, gained her angel wings and passed away to be with our Lord and Savior on November 16, 2022. She was born on December 14, 2018, in Dallas, TX, to parents Carlos and Elva Duarte. Melanie was a beautiful and happy little girl who loved to sing and dance. Some of her favorite movies were Sing 2, Moana, Dennis the Menace, Minions, Descendants, Ferdinand and anything featuring Elmo. She loved being outdoors, especially helping her mom with planting things in the garden and loved interacting with the cows and chickens. She had a lot of fun always hiding from her brother, sister, and her dad. Melanie was the peace maker of the house and the disciplinary one. Melanie also loved to play soccer, doing arts and crafts, and had such an interest in makeup that she wanted to be a makeup artist or cosmetologist when she grew up. She had so much care and compassion at such a young age that she also wanted to help people by becoming a doctor. Melanie loved going to Chuck E. Cheese and McDonald’s, her favorite meal was a hamburger Happy Meal, she also loved M&M’s and pink donuts with sprinkles. Oh, we can’t forget the chocolate ice cream with a cone from Braum’s. Melanie would always tell her mommy, “let’s share food” she would then switch their meals only to say moments later that she wanted her food back. Melanie was so sweet, always wanting to take care of her mom. She was “mommy’s little helper,” always wanting to help with the household chores like sweeping, mopping, and doing the laundry. She still used her pacifier before school and after school and at bedtime she asked for her pon. She loved putting daddy in time out. Melanie was a strong and courageous fighter in her battle with Cystic Fibrosis and overcame many obstacles even at such a young age. Something we can all take and learn was one of her favorite sayings to mom was “mommy, be gentle, be nice”. Melanie is survived by a host of her family, friends and her dog Bonnie who was her baby.
