Juana “Janie” Cannon, a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 22, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Born on March 17, 1967, in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, she brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew her. Janie's spirit was truly unforgettable, characterized by her loving and kind-hearted nature. She was selfless, fearless, and embraced life with a wild and spirited enthusiasm that made her the life of the party.
For many dedicated years, Janie poured her heart into her work at Old Castle in Terrell, where she was known for her strong work ethic and caring demeanor. Alongside her career, she also served as a devoted caregiver, offering compassion and support to those in need, further reflecting her nurturing personality.
Janie is survived by her cherished children, Armando Fuentes III, Dolores Fuentes, Amanda Fuentes, and Rico Fuentes (spouse – Renae Valdez). Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: George Ramirez, Jr., Alesandra Ramos, Hector Ramos III, Ramon Ramos, Antonio Ballesteros IV, Romeo Ballesteros, and Desarae Riley Ross, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren, Ayden Ace Ramirez, Leilani Marie Ramirez, and Annaliese Trejo, who brought her immense joy.
Janie is mourned by her loving mother, Maria Alicia Lozano, her sister, Lourdes Elliott (spouse – Richard), and her brother, Juan Gutierrez, Jr. (spouse – Blanca), who appreciated her spirited nature and loud laughter. Surviving also are nieces Lizette Gutierrez, Sabrina Reyes, Ali Martinez and Maya Gutierrez; and nephews, Sebastian Reyes, Noah Gutierrez, Leo Martinez and Dominic Gutierrez.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Juan Gutierrez, and her grandmother Ramona Ramirez, who welcomed her with open arms.
Janie will be deeply missed by all, but her vibrant spirit will live on in the countless memories she created and the love she shared. Her laughter, warmth, and generous heart have left an indelible mark on many lives, a testament to the beautiful person she was.
