Send With Love
Our dear mother Josephine Sproul went home to the Lord on May 29, 2022, at the age of 80. Jo, or Josie to some, was born September 7, 1941 to Joe and Alta Allec in Caliente, Nevada. This small Nevada town was where she went to school and spent most of her early years. She was the middle child of five, with an older brother and sister (Everett and Emily), and a younger sister and brother (Julee and Jerry). Josie was quite the “tom-boy.” She loved fast cars, hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds. Josephine met John, and they were married on December 10, 1959. Later, they were sealed as a family in the Las Vegas LDS temple. They had 4 children: Jonnie, Jody, Joey, and Joanna. Together they were known as the 6 Jo’s. During the early years of their marriage, John was in the Navy and spent a lot of time traveling from place to place. When he was out to sea, Josie was left to raise her family on her own. After the Navy, they settled in Las Vegas for several years. Just prior to retiring, they got a small place in Indian Springs, NV, and they loved living in the quiet little town. Josephine was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of 42. She held many callings from nursery leader to Relief Society President. She loved each calling and found much joy in serving others. Josephine was loved by so many, and her positive outlook and kind heart left an impression where ever she went. She rarely met a stranger that didn’t quickly become a friend, and she was always looking for ways to help others in need. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Alta, her siblings Everett, Jerry, and Emily, and her loving husband John Sproul. She is survived by her sister Julee, her children Jonnie, Jody, Joey, and Joanna, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held June 11th in Las Vegas. LDS Chapel 4525 N Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas. Viewing at 11:30, Service at 12:30.
