Jimmy Lee Lormand, Sr. has peacefully passed away on October 7, 2023, in Quinlan, Texas. Born on August 29, 1947, in Crowley, Louisiana, Jimmy led a remarkable life filled with kindness and warmth. He was a devoted father to his children Emily Palmer, Jimmy Lee Lormand Jr., and Rusty Lormand.
Jimmy dedicated 15 years of his career as a bus driver for the Wills Point ISD. His friendly disposition made him cherished both by the children he transported and the staff he worked with. Jimmy's commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of those under his care was second to none.
Beyond his professional life, Jimmy had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. An avid LSU Football fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. In addition to his passion for football, Jimmy found pleasure in beekeeping, fishing, raising cattle, gardening, making sausage and boudin, as well as cooking delicious meals for loved ones. These activities were not only sources of enjoyment for Jimmy but also opportunities for him to share his talents with others.
Jimmy's warm and welcoming personality endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He possessed a unique ability to make everyone feel at ease in his presence. Whether through a kind smile or a listening ear, Jimmy had an innate talent for making others feel seen and valued. His genuine care and compassion will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to experience it.
He is survived by his adoring children Emily Palmer (spouse – Louis), Jimmy Lee Lormand Jr., Rusty Lormand (spouse - Sarah; grandchildren Louis N. and Alyssa Palmer, Campbell and Lacey Palmer, Isaiah and Triniti Palmer; Trenton Lee Lormand; Landri Lou Lormand; Reese Elane Lormand; great-grandchildren Louis Roy Palmer, Kamryn Kaye Palmer, Roman Bo Palmer, Eli Campbell Palmer, Averi Elizabeth Bollier; and his loving partner Mary Bittinger. He is also survived by his brother Dalton Lormand, brother Daniel Lormand, numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Elaine Stamper Lormand, his parents, John and Emily (Schexnider) Lormand, sister Adelene Bea Kebodeaux, and brothers Wilfred and John Lormand.
Services to honor and celebrate Jimmy's life will be held on October 12, 2023. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home located at 301 W Nash St in Terrell, Texas. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM at the same location. The burial will then be held at College Mound Cemetery in Terrell at 12:15 PM. Those friends and family attending the visitation and funeral are requested to wear their LSU fan gear.
As we bid farewell to Jimmy Lee Lormand Sr., let us remember him for the love he shared, the kindness he exuded, and the memories that will forever live on in our hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
