James "Jimmy" R. Smith

James Robert Smith, age 78, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on January 9, 2022. James was born on November 22, 1943 in Abbott, Texas to parents Robert Calhoun Smith and Rose Christene (Riley) Smith.

James had a servants heart and always available to help others no matter the circumstance. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. James was a man of great faith who loved the Lord and his church.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Smith and Rose Conly and his wife Cherre Kuehn Smith.

James is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cheryl Floyd Smith; children: Weldon Smith, Amy Stanwick, Traci Smith, John D. Little and Jennifer Sumbler; grandchildren: Justin Sisco, Bethany Smith, Joshua Smith, Christopher Smith, Jonathan Smith, Matthew Stanwick, Julie Stanwick, Travis Robinson, Taylor Little, Christopher Little, John Little, Caitlyn Little, Lawrence Sumbler and Christina Sumbler; 2 great grandchildren Lidia Smith and Lucas Smith; 3 sisters: Linda LaRoque, Barbara Tulley and Rebecca Fike along with a numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved family and friends who will miss him dearly.
