Dorothy Mae Tettleton

Dorothy Mae Tettleton, a beloved member of the Terrell community from 1976 to 2020, passed away in Plano, Texas, on March 10, 2024. She was known for her warm and welcoming personality, with a special touch of red-headed feistiness, yet very polite and sweet.

Born in Vancouver, Canada to her parents, Hiram Cooper Parsons and Eva May Speck.  Dorothy led a fulfilling life dedicated to serving others. After marrying the love of her life at age 19, she traveled the world as a military spouse, and wrapped up her working career, working tirelessly for the Terrell ISD for 15 years in food service, where she touched the lives of many with her service and compassionate nature. 
 
Dorothy's legacy of love extends beyond her professional life. She was a pillar of strength and support for her family. Her husband, Thomas Wayne Tettleton, served in the United States Air Force for 32 years and retired as MSgt, a true testament to their shared commitment to serving their country. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, May Lee Harris of Allen, TX, who will continue to cherish her memory. May Lee’s heart is heavy with grief at the loss of such a caring and loving mother.

Dorothy had eleven (11) grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren located across the U.S.  
 
Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Wayne, by her daughter Carol Ann Morgan, and by sons Steven Wayne Tettleton and David Hiram Tettleton.

May Lee invites friends and family to come and share their cherished memories of Dorothy, at a visitation on Friday, March 15th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Poetry Road, Terrell, Texas.

Private funeral services will follow visitation at Restland Memorial Gardens in Dallas.

The world has truly lost a remarkable soul in Dorothy Mae Tettleton. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will forever be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace knowing that she made a difference in the lives of so many.
