SPC Braxton Izaac James, born on November 2, 2002, in Wichita, Kansas, sadly passed away on June 15, 2024.
He was a High School graduate of North Forney School, class of 2021. Braxton dedicated over 2 years of his life to active duty in the United States Army, where he was honored with distinctions as the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Service Ribbon. SPC James was a dedicated and observant Soldier whose contributions to operational readiness were invaluable. Serving with Echo Company during an NTC rotation and deploying to Poland, he exemplified exceptional competence by fueling over 100 vehicles and driving more than 300 miles. Beyond his military duties, Specialist James was known for his skill as a barber, cutting hair for half of the Soldiers during the deployment, demonstrating both his talents and his commitment to his fellow service members' well-being. He actively participated in weekly H2F sporting events, promoting camaraderie and enhancing physical resilience among his peers. Specialist James's keen observation and unwavering dedication left an unforgettable mark on those who served alongside him, embodying the finest qualities of a Soldier and a friend. His presence will be deeply missed, and his legacy of service and fellowship will continue to inspire us all. Known for his infectious smile and beautiful eyes, Braxton will be remembered for his vibrant personality. He cherished moments filled with laughter and always sought to accomplish whatever he set his mind to.
During his leisure time, Braxton found joy in horse team roping with his two beloved horses and relished spending quality time with his family and friends. His dedication to his hobbies and interests reflected his passion and love for life.
Braxton was preceded in death by his great grandparents: Willie and Marth Williams, Thomas and Marcella Chapman, Harland and Dorothy Windmiller, Cleveland and Elevelina Short, as well as his cherished horse Hennessy.
Braxton leaves behind a legacy cherished by many. He is survived by his loving parents Rudolph Short James and Brandie Gail James; dear brother Rudie Ilijah James; adored sister Delaney Paige Swader; caring grandparents: Rudolph Short, Rosetta James, Brand Windmiller, Mary Windmiller; supportive uncles: Chris Silva, Jesse Windmiller, Darnell James, Elliott James, Lanual James, Ronald James; aunts: Kristina Windmiller, Kim Kaylor, Carolyn Johnson, Dana James, Sharon James; beloved cousins: Aaimannae Rodgers, Kieke James, Leontrell James, Zana James, Deonte Johnson, Nigie Johnson, Brittany James, Ronald James Jr. and Mikyla James, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Additionally, Braxton is survived by his loyal black Labrador Boudreaux and majestic silver horse Bella who brought him great companionship throughout his life's journey.
The memories of Braxton's laughter, determination to succeed in all endeavors he pursued along with the bond he shared with loved ones will forever hold a special place among those who knew him.
Braxton's life will be celebrated and honored at a Visitation service on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, starting at 6:00 PM at the Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell, TX. Loved ones and friends are invited to pay their respects until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Service will take place the following day, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Community Life Church in Forney, TX. Family members and well-wishers are welcome to join in remembering Braxton and his remarkable journey.
In honor of Braxton's dedicated service to his country, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, a final gathering will occur where he will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Braxton Izaac James may have departed from this world too soon, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
