Bertha Mae Holcomb, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on February 21, 2022 at the age of 83 while listening to her son sing, ‘How Great Thou Art’. She was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Robert Holcomb and her parents John and Vergie Mauldin. She was born in Covington, Tennessee where her family was employed as sharecroppers. She would often skip school to work in the cotton fields with her parents. Bertha was the oldest sister of 6 siblings.
Bertha married the love of her life, Robert on May 3, 1952. Bertha and Robert moved to the Dallas area where they started a family of their own and raised their children: Linda, Johnny, Anita, Keith and Craig. She worked as a secretary clerk, her very own business owner over many years, but her primary job and her pride and joy was raising her family. Bertha loved her family and taught them many life lessons, including when you do something, do it right the first time so you don’t have to do it again, or two wrongs don’t make a right, be nice even when others don’t deserve it and how to love and forgive others. She never gossiped but she enjoyed telling her family and friends about “things that happened”.
She had many friends over the years that she met at church and her store. She may not have talked about them regularly, but she carried them in her heart and prayers. Bertha loved to keep up to date with everyone of Facebook. Bertha considered all of those she loved as family. Family was one of life’s greatest blessings in her eyes. While she leaves behind 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, her family includes many, many more loved ones. She lived a blessed life and leaves behind a great legacy of love. She will be greatly missed and will continue through all the lives she touched.
Bertha is survived by her loving family Linda and Lloyd Macmann, Johnny and Nancy Holcomb, Dennis and Anita Powers, Keith and Pam Holcomb, Craig and Shelly Holcomb, Kelly and Courtney Hass, Klif Hass, Brandalynn Porter, Heather and Kris Walker, Kevin and Kerry Powers, Jason and Angie Powers, Sarah and Justin McGlothlin, Justin and Monica Powers, Lori and Adam Delacruz, Jason and Brandi Holcomb, Garrett and Victoria Holcomb, Breanna Holcomb, Hanna and Nick Foster, Halee Holcomb, Gracie Holcomb, Braden Hass, Griffin Hass, Taylor Porter, Jordyn Porter, Klay and Teri Walker, Lilie Walker, Max Leos, Gavin Powers, Sean Powers, Makalia Powers, Bret Palmer, Kaden Powers, Brailyn Powers, Ethan Powers, Jordan McGlothlin, Levi McGlothlin, Kailee McGlothlin, Rheagan Powers, Rylee Powers, Ezra Delacruz, Hezekiah Delacruz, Audrey Foster, Everly Foster, Charlie Foster and Khaleesi Powers.
